Prostate problems
The prostate forms a ring around the urethra. If it and its inner parts
enlarge it constricts the urethra. The urinary stream weakens and the
bladder can no longer be completely emptied. This leads to delayed
urination and dripping. The residual urine can cause infection and even
back up into the kidneys and damage them.
Prostate problems As of the age of 50 one out two men will experience problems related to an enlarged prostate.
This gland surrounds the urethra at its exit from the bladder. After puberty it can grow slowly every year thus constricting the urethra. The consequences are discomfort during urination, such as frequent discharges both during the day and at night, urine dipping, delayed urination and a feeling of incomplete evacuation.
A. Vogel recommends:
Effective help can be provided by saw palmetto fruit (Serenoa repens/Sabal serrulata). It can improve urinary flow, stop enlargement and sooth symptoms effectively and without side effects.
Exercise is helpful.
Avoid sitting or driving a car for lengthy periods of time.
Alcohol and exposure to cold worsen symptoms. Keep the lower body warm.
Animal fats and coffee are risk factors and should be reduced.
Asian vegetarian cooking with raw vegetables, soy products, legumes and flax are beneficial. Sufficient supplies of vitamin A and zinc are also important.
