Health Canada released its new policy on sprouts, reminding Canadians that children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should avoid eating raw or undercooked sprouts.

Indeed, these foods may carry harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which can lead to serious illness. Many outbreaks of Salmonella and E. coli infections have originated from contaminated sprouts.
