Pick the right sprout |

Health Canada released its new policy on sprouts, reminding Canadians that children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems should avoid eating raw or undercooked sprouts. Indeed, these foods may carry harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, which can lead to serious illness. Many outbreaks of Salmonella and E. coli infections have originated from contaminated sprouts. This contamination can take place in the field or during storage or handling of fresh produce. This is particularly a concern with sprouts however it is true of all fresh fruits and vegetables. Contaminated spinach caused an outbreak last fall and a few days ago, cantaloupes were recalled. How can you avoid this risk? It is easy; just pick the right sprout! With BioSnacky® sprouts, YOU control cultivation, picking and handling therefore eliminating the risk of contamination by harmful bacteria. BioSnacky® sprouting seeds are grown in controlled organic conditions, untreated, additive-free and GMO-free. Why grow your own sprouts?
