It can also be cause by a lack of lactic acid in your large intestine (makes the muscles of the bowel contract, so if missing, they get lazy)...
Since your intestines are all backed up, it is important to empty your bowels and using a laxative to make this happen. It can give you more cramps until the bowel have evacuated most of the feces.
